Following a review of our practice around homework, including taking suggestions from parents and carers, we undertook a review of both the Homework Policy and systems used in school. The end result was the development of homework grids now used across the school from Foundation Stage to Year 6. The learning activities in each grid are linked to the topics studied by that year group that term and cover a wide range of curriculum areas. We hope that parents and carers enjoy sharing learning with their child(ren) as they work through the grid. As Principal, I certainly look forward to discussing the wonderful work produced with pupils when they come to my office for their rewards for three in a row, five in a row and a ‘full house’.

As indicated in each grid, regular weekly homework also focuses on crucial basic skills such as regular reading opportunities, practice of maths skills such as rapid recall of number bonds and times tables and revision for spelling assessments. We welcome your support in helping your child(ren) with these.

As with all areas of school life, if you have any questions about homework, please approach your child’s teacher.
