At Reid Street we believe that Physical Education provides a vital contribution to a child’s development and well-being in addition to developing a broader range of skills such as collaboration, cooperation and team work. We encourage children to be physically active for sustained periods of time, to lead healthy and active lives and to engage in competitive sports and activities.

Despite our lack of a field, we participate in, and regularly achieve highly in, numerous sporting events such as football, netball, tennis, cricket, rugby, cross country, athletics, orienteering and gymnastics. We are always incredibly proud of our children during these events as they constantly display not only outstanding behaviour but also exceptional ‘sportsmanship’ which we believe are essential traits of a sportsperson.

The required PE kit is:

  • A plain white or red T-shirt (this can be with or without the Reid Street badge)
  • Plain black shorts, leggings, or jogging bottoms (no logos)
  • Their school jumper/cardigan or a plain red hoodie (no logos)
  • Trainers

If you have a child in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6, they should come to school wearing their PE kit on the days they have PE. This helps us make the most of our lesson time and ensures all children are ready to participate.

As they continue to develop their independence and self-care skills, children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will come to school in their usual school uniform and get changed into their PE kit before their lesson.

Your child’s class teacher will confirm which days they have PE.

Thank you for your help in making sure our pupils are properly prepared for their PE lessons. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
