Welcome to our Foundation Setting.
Our engaging, creative Foundation Stage area comprises a large, open-plan classroom and access to two lovely outside learning spaces. Here pupils are welcomed into the school for the first time from many different early years’ providers. Following a short induction, pupils settle into the routines of the school day, supported by highly experienced staff. Planning and teaching is based on the Foundation Stage ‘Seven Areas of Learning’:
Three Prime Areas:
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional
Four Specific Areas:
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
As with KS1 and KS2, the areas of learning are taught through topics where possible and cross curricular links are sought. A balance is achieved between adult-led and child-initiated learning. In the latter, learning objectives are met following a topic of interest from an individual pupil or group of pupils.

Each week during Read Write Inc sessions your child will be introduced to new sounds.
The sound has a caption and picture to go with it as well as exemplar words with the sound in it. Your child’s sound book has the sound and picture inside. To aid you to support your child we have created short video clips of each sound for you to watch.
The video clips are ordered as they are taught; set 1 first and continuing to set 2 and set 3. We will let you know when a new sound has been introduced and what is is via Marvellous Me.
