Under the previous Ofsted Common Inspection Framework (CIF), schools rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted received a one day inspection visit (with notice given the day before) which aimed to identify if the school had maintained this good standard and had met any targets set in previous inspections. Whilst a report was no longer issued following this inspection, or grades for each area amended, a letter was produced outlining the strengths of the school and any areas for further development.

From September 2019, schools will be inspected under the new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) which will involve a two day visit from Ofsted.
