Curriculum and Progression
We use the popular, well-regarded progressive scheme: La Jolie Ronde across the school.
Although the National Curriculum does not have the expectation of pupils learning a language until KS2, we feel that our pupils benefit from learning Spanish from Reception.
In EYFS and Key Stage 1, we follow La Jolie Ronde’s Little Languages:
and in Key Stage 2 (from Y3 to Y6) we follow the Spanish Schemes of Work.
We have used this scheme as the basis of our progression document, but have also ensured that pupils build steadily on the knowledge and skills taught via our own progression document.

As well as planned lessons, Spanish is integrated into daily learning opportunities – children can be observed answering the register and greeting one another in Spanish, for example.
